CentreStage has become a cornerstone of Geelong’s creative community, driven by a passion for the performing arts and a commitment to inclusivity and opportunity. Proudly owned solely by Geelong locals Brett and David Greenwood, CentreStage is a homegrown success story dedicated to empowering locals and fostering a vibrant arts scene in our region.
A Transparent and Unique Structure
CentreStage operates with a distinctive dual structure designed to serve both community-focused initiatives and professional endeavours:
CentreStage Foundation Incorporated (ABN 23 456 789 101) is our registered not-for-profit arm. Every dollar generated supports community theatre, education programs, and outreach projects, with no wages payable to executive staff, owners, or anyone involved in governance. This ensures that the Foundation operates with the utmost integrity and transparency, maintaining its focus on enriching the community through the arts.
CentreStage Pty Ltd complements the Foundation as a for-profit entity that encompasses our professional talent agency, education program, and theatrical hire services. These activities generate the revenue needed to pay staff and sustain our broader operations, allowing us to continue offering world-class opportunities to our community.
Together, these two arms form a cohesive organisation dedicated to creating opportunities for locals while maintaining financial sustainability.
Proudly Independent and Community-Focused
CentreStage receives no government grants since 2020 (but we have tried), relying entirely on income generated through our agency and education programs. Despite this, we employ around 100 local contractors and casual staff annually and are supported by an extraordinary 500 volunteers who contribute their time and talent to our productions and programs.
Brett and David Greenwood, as the sole shareholders of CentreStage Pty Ltd, have built the company with the Geelong community at its heart. By owning our buildings and leasing space at the Vines Road Community Centre, we’ve ensured a solid foundation to continue our work. Our independence allows us to focus solely on what matters most: supporting locals and delivering exceptional arts experiences.
Our Trademarks and Registrations
CentreStage is proud to hold trademarks for the CentreStage name and associated branding, ensuring that our identity remains protected and synonymous with excellence in the performing arts. Our registered trademarks reflect our commitment to maintaining a strong and recognisable presence in the arts industry.
Additionally, CentreStage Foundation Incorporated is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), further demonstrating our commitment to transparency, accountability, and community-focused operations.
Investing in Local Talent
CentreStage’s education program supports students aged 4-18, providing a nurturing environment for diverse learners. Approximately 30% of our students identify as requiring learning interventions, and we are proud to tailor our programs to meet their needs.
From confidence-building workshops to advanced performance training, CentreStage equips young people with the skills, resilience, and creativity they need to thrive. Investing in our youth means investing in Geelong’s future, and we are honoured to play a part in shaping the next generation of talent.
Recognised and Respected
CentreStage is a member of leading industry organisations, including:
MEAA (Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance)
Music Theatre Guild of Victoria
Australian Entertainers’ Agents Association
Geelong Chamber of Commerce
Geelong and Bellarine Tourism (as Premium Partners).
These affiliations underline our commitment to professional excellence and community engagement.
Proudly Geelong
CentreStage works and creates on Wadawurrung land, and we honour the traditional custodians in all our activities. Geelong is not just where we’re based—it’s our inspiration, our community, and our home.
As locals driving success for locals, Brett and David Greenwood have built an organisation that embodies the best of Geelong: creativity, integrity, and community spirit. From our dedicated volunteers to our talented students and staff, CentreStage is a testament to what can be achieved when passion meets purpose.
We are grateful to be part of such a vibrant region and look forward to continuing to serve our community through the power of the performing arts.
Together, we’re creating a brighter future for Geelong—one stage, one student, and one story at a time.
